How can sixteen layers of paper be nearly indestructible? No one except the craftsmen at Globe-Trotter know the secret formula, but it makes for some of the world’s most iconic luggage. It’s made in England of vulcanized fiberboard, which is feather-light and yet strong enough to sustain the weight of an elephant (really). Every piece is completely handmade the exact same way it was a hundred years _ it takes five days to make the corners alone _ with Cheney-made hardware and leather handles. It’s hard to imagine a more special suitcase. These are designed to be banged up (they were even on the ill-fated British Antarctic Expedition) so don’t be afraid to take it anywhere and everywhere. We think it’s a pretty cool (and surprisingly practical) alternative to leather luggage. And, it looks pretty incredible on the baggage carousel…
