Trudon is the world’s oldest candlemaker still in business. From the champagne-bucket-inspired glass housing to the gilded plaque on the front, and even the deo regique laborant motto (“[the bees] work for God and the King”), everything about the brand is luxurious. They secured the rights to cast these bust candles using molds from the French National Museum Council, and only 100 of each are made per year. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. This one is the likeness of Marie Antoinette, but a lesser-known copy that depicts “an idealized portrait of the queen instead of a sovereign at the height of her power” shown with a swath of fabric around her shoulders and a crown of pearls and a fleur-de-lis. While it’s not scented, and not really meant to be burned, it’ll look fantastic on your mantle.
